We are always ready at Jiwa Damai to develop new tastes and items. The green color in the photo is from the green roof covering our coco house production. Here we are experimenting with Aloe in #coconut oil, and with the wonderful leaves and powder from the #Moringa tree in coconut oil. We would like to explore what these what these powerful health combinations effect. Of course we will try them out for a while before offering to others.

Here is some of our wildlife at Jiwa Damai, the beautiful Praying mantis, the incredible intricately woven web of the spider and last no least our sacred Temple Snake which resides at #Jiwa Damai. The local priest says that this means a special blessing, since they only reside in Balinese temples. She is truly beautiful and she will look at you and observe you, and then majestically move away at a slow pace. Permaculture style pond
David, our volunteer from Spain, started mulching the edges of one of our ponds with cut dried grass planting according to permaculture principles, first low plants, watermelon, then tarot, and then bananas.
Francisco, our Portuguese volunteer and Kadek, our Balinese gardener, refining our compost. This compost was produced in the 18 days system to be turned over every 2 days and produces the most marvelous compost to be used for compost tea and our seedlings.

At Jiwa Damai we are planting the seeds in our nursery in our especially prepared compost after the 18 day method which our portuguese volunteer Francisco took great long care to turn it over every two days . The result then allows for a wonder nourishment and growth of the seeds which, after germinating are then set into small pots made of leafs to continue to grow and then planted in the garden

children permaculture
We have a lovely group of Russian resident kids, coming once a week for several weeks to learn about plants, planting and compost making, they will emulate in their own garden. Age range from 4-8 years and extremely interested in everything. A pleasure to see this.
Butterfly shape garden
The field laid out in the shape of butterfly wing and border of each field is stable with coconut husk and the rest now being mulch with dry grass for later planting. Here you see our gardener Kadek and our italian long-term volunteer Luca. They both become best friends, the italian teaching Kadek english and Kadek teaching to the italian bahasa while working hand to hand.
Our fearless Italian volunteer, Luca, tried his hand at opening the outer shell of our coconuts. The nuts need to be opened, the inner shell cracked, the meat extracted and then grated to produce our wonderful organically certified cold pressed coconut oil, which is an incredible health food.
There were about three hundred to be opened, and Luca managed to open over 50 nuts on the first day. We were in awe.

These are our coconuts harvested in December. They were used for the production of our own coconut oil which is also for sale in Jiwa Damai. The coconuts used for oil must be left on the trees until they are dark and dry. The green coconuts are 'young coconuts' or 'kelapa muda' in Indonesian language and are used for drinking as a natural organic rehydration drink - perfect for refreshing us during the hot weather we are getting just now. Guests at Jiwa Damai are greeted with a cool coconut water from our garden on their arrival.
