JIWADAMAI  AGRO- PERMACULTURE CENTER

Vision: to  create a pilot project integrating biological permaculture with water preservation, waste recycling and application of solar energy, and to provide a meeting place for education, local, inter-island and international internship and know- how exchange.

Garden: a permaculture garden designed in accordance with nature, practicing sustainable biological gardening  based on EM (effective microorganism) technologies. One focus is to preserve rare species of indiginous plants, another to harvest coconuts and use local traditional methods to produce oil. One area contains a variety of medicinal plants, the other Balinese ceremonial plants, vegetables and fruit.

Springs and ponds:  the land is blessed with springs which produce high quality water, which is naturally circulated into the ponds surrounding the buildings and then flows into the agro gardens. The ponds and water have been exposed to EM technology and as a result the breeding of mosquitoes has been reduced.
The agricultural land is watered by the pond overflow. Thus, no water is wasted.

Sewage and compost:  a large compost area was introduced to compost all materials with EM technology in order to produce healthy fertilizer.   A four part open septic tank is planned, based on EM and biological principles, for recycling human waste.

Solar energy:  a solar energy department is presently being developed.  Solar lighting and warm water derived from panels are feasible.  Using the small river’s flow to produce energy may be feasible, as well.

Internships:  we offer internships to students from different countries who wish to experience working side by side with local students and explore the local culture.

Networking:  we are open to networking with various local and international organizations and are presently connected with IDEP and SATUNAMA. We are continuously expanding our network.
